{Rooted}: “Anything” Study – Week 9: Everything Different

ThanksgivingHello Rooted Ladies,

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving full of gratitude, grace, good times, and lots of family and friends. WOW! I cannot believe that we are in Week 9 – our final week of our “Anything” study. In many ways, it has flown by and in other ways, my soul has lingered (and is still lingering) in certain sections of the book.

The one thing we can all probably relate to is the power of the “Anything” prayer. Maybe some of us were able to quickly say the prayer and surrender their “anything” for God’s “everything.” Or there may be some of us who are still working on surrendering. And I’m sure there are many of us that are somewhere in between. The key is that God is working on us. He’s working on our hearts and our souls. And we are forever changed.

Allen’s book has exposed us to the idea of freedom in God’s way of life for us – not just rules.  Like Allen said on page 145, we now know God’s story for our lives is so much better than we could ever possibly imagine. Oh, what He has in store for us!

chapter 20: wind: everything different

1. Share an experience where you thought you were laying down your life for God and instead He used the experience to breathe new life into you.

2. How do we as wives support our husbands as they follow God into uncharted territory (p. 180)?

3. In what area of your life is God asking not for radical sacrifice but simple obedience?

4. Read Acts 1:8, John 14:26.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NLT).

26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26 (NLT).

What is the mission of the Holy Spirit here on Earth? Are you abandoned to His mission?

5. Read the last paragraph of the book on page 184. Spend some time asking God about the extraordinary purposes He has for your life. What are the “anythings” standing in the way? In view of eternity would you be willing to lay them at His feet knowing that “Anything is nothing in light of forever (p. 184)?”

We hope you have enjoyed this study as much as we have. Please let us know how the book and your time with God has changed your lives. It’s definitely changed ours.

Wishing you continued hope, joy, and peace,

Hope & Katrina
